A tournament was held here in Chengdu This autumn. There is one 7dan,several 6 dan,and a lot of 5 dan among the participants, the level is pretty high!
I'm glad to see Oliver(from England,KGS 5K) and Mikulas(from Czech republic,KGS 3k) also joined this Go event, but Mikulas had to canceled it just before the tournament started because of some emergencies. Thus Oliver made it as the only foreign player. His good manner and serious attitude really impressed me.Good for him!And I'm sure he learned much from this experience.
Ville is an IT engineer from Finland. After a long journey through Siberia by train, which I think it should be fantastic but Ville said it was quite dull,he found me in Chengdu. It was my plessure to teach him for about a week,in the meantime,he went to 2009 WCG(world cyber game)competing place with friends everyday, what a perfect schedule!
Ville is a pretty strong 3 Kyu(offical rank in Finland, actually his Kgs rank is 1d),for he beat me with 5 stones, four brilliant moves with inspiration led him to win by 4 points.
Next in a 8 stones game with Mr.Dongyan,a Pro 7 Dan,at the moment that I thought Ville would win by around 20 points,he suddenly fell into the last trap Dongyan could make, the sound he beating leg shocked the whole storey, what a pity!
Absolutely Ville won't regret his trip in Chengdu. On Dec 18th,in a glamourous Go party in Chengdu, not only he met Mr.Nie Weiping(聂卫平)9 Dan,Mr.Wang Runan(王汝南)8Dan,Mr.Liu Siming(The chairman of Chinese Go association),but also he played a game with Mr.Luo Xihe(罗洗河）9 Dan，who is the winner of Samsung cup in 2006.What a lucky guy!It makes me feel envious of him, because I never met a world champion till the day,and I never played with a pro player till now,a matter of pity! And what's more,a girl whispered him for half an honr something, thing's gonna happen!I just wonder whether it'd be a dream when he recalls this week in the future.
